A Classic dual axle, Fork Design

Alt-Az Mount for Premium Refractor Telescopes

A mounting solution two models.

Introducing microfork M-100 and M-85.

The microfork M-100 and M-85 are designed to securely mount premium 80mm to 125mm refractors, with maximum tube diameter of 115mm; particularly in mounting the Apos, ED apos and "short tubes," from 5-18 lbs, plus equipped with heavy 2" diagonals, eyepieces, or SLR cameras. The mounts are designed for easy set-up and portability.

General Features

The microfork base attaches to the geared, non-roll back tripods equipped with fixed 3/8" threaded posts, flange plate and set screws. The base, a modified 2-way video head, works superbly as the mount's azimuth bearing, and adjustable fork-telescope platform. The head, (trade name "Micro"), provides smooth, counterbalanced 360° movement, and has a single control knob for adjustable compression drag. Head serves as the easy-to-connect sturdy platform for the heavy duty altitude control fork, in either an upright, or securely locked, -40° tilt, for daytime or full-sky observing with mounted scopes.

The Microfork’s sturdy, dual axle design provides smooth, backlash-free altitude motion. It features a single control, Teflon friction drag, and a dual braking system. 3/8" & 1/2" S.S. precision axles, with complimentary axial-thrust disks of Teflon/Delrin, ensure continuous and smooth movement under compression for telescopic sky-filled searches (e.g. "star-hopping"), hand tracking, and point-and-stay observing. (At present, no cable slow motion or electric drive is available.) Axles ride on steel backed, Teflon-alloy bearings, with hand locking screw, Rulon LR, and/or sealed needle roller bearings. These confer a smooth, light touch, non-drifting motion for all balanced scopes. Vibration-absorbing pads are fitted throughout the mount. Solidity and careful design* result in smooth, fault-free, telescope motion, with nearly vibration-free observing, and rapid dampening of any disturbances.)

*(Dimensions, placement, and accuracy of the radial/axial contact surfaces, establish the quality of alt-az motion -- necessary for fine refractors!)
